Vision of Faith Church History

Vision of Faith Church held its Inaugural Worship service on Sunday, October22, 1995 at the Hardesty South Regional Library (at the time located behind Woodland Hills Mall).

The congregation consisted of the late Pastor Roy M. Cowins and wife Betty, Ezell Ware III, Stacie Ware, Ezell IV (Quad), Dionne Richardson, Ronda Foreman and family, and Judy Gotcher. The membership grew gradually, many came and many left. We continued to believe “The vision was yet for an appointed time,” trust God and await His promise that He would provide for His people.

In 1996 we purchased 4.03 acres of land at 8730 South Lynn Lane, Broken Arrow, which included a small rent house that required much renovation. A few years passed and the vision dramatically came alive. We held a ground breaking ceremony on April 29, 2000; the church was completed in December 2001; our Dedication Service was held January 2002. The Elders of the church were Ezell and Stacie Ware, Dionne Richardson, Barbara Jones, Tracey Sanders and Kimberly Hankins.

We adopted Hewgley Terrace Apartments (Tulsa Housing Authority) for several years, providing holiday parties, food, games, and prizes for approximately 150 residents. Our local weekly outreach at Indian Springs Apartments also lasted several years providing Mother’s Day out, other youth activities, and assistance to specific requests when known.

Vision 21 Learning Center, our childcare facility, was initiated March 6, 2001 with a licensed capacity for 35 students. In June 2004 we added an additional wing to our existing building, increasing the capacity from 35-60 students.

On Saturday, October 21, 2006, the church held its groundbreaking ceremony for the new Youth Development Center (YDC) at 10:00 a.m. After a delay of approximately one (1) year the YDC was finally completed in August 2008, giving Vision 21 a licensed capacity of 125.

A 900 square feet storage building was recently completed (October 2009) giving us much needed on-site storage, eliminating costly off-site public storage.

Our hearts were saddened by the loss of our founders, Pastor Roy (2012) and Betty (2014) Cowins.  They left us with a firm foundation when the vision of the church was established.  We thank God for this appointed time and for sending us our new Pastor Ezell Ware III (2013) and now Co-Pastor Stacie M. Ware (2018).  Their passion for God has continued to guide us as we strive to go from Good to Great!  The vision is speaking to our hearts and we are excited about all of the great things happening at Vision of Faith Church.  To God Be the Glory!
